But all this do not conceal gastronomy and the famous Madeleines cakes of Commercy : this cake was created in 1755 during a fest given in the castle of Commercy by king of Poland Stanislas Leczinski. A young servant named Madeleine cooked this traditional cake and saved the dinner. To thanks her, King Stanislas gave to her cake the name of Madeleine.
