Privilege of the kings under the Capetians, the region has many natural sites like Sologne, a greatest hunting domain. From the forest of Carnutes, the Celts’ territory to the outskirts of Chartres which cathedrale is a French gothic art masterpiece, Centre is crossed from East to West by the Loire River.
The Renaissance period enriched it with its most beautiful edifices ; castles looking like palaces along the Loire River with their evocative names, Amboise, Chambord, Chenonceau, Chinon.

Orléans is associated with Jeanne d'Arc’s epic (Pucelle of Orléans).

Centre (Touraine) is also famous with its wineyards : Bourgueil, Vouvray, Chinon.
