With Chalonnais, Charolais, Nivernais, Burgundy is a wineyard region also notorious with its mustard (Dijon).
It was, in the past, open up to distant exchanges (Vix treasury) with Greeks, Scyths, Etrusks and Celts.
One of the rebellion’s heart against the Romans, Burgundy became with Autun, one of the former intellectual centers.
The region reached its artistic and cultural zenith under the aegis of Burgundy’s dukes as Philippe le Bon, the Golden Fleece Knights Order's founder and Charles le Téméraire.
