With Chalonnais,
Charolais, Nivernais, Burgundy is a wineyard region also notorious with its mustard
(Dijon).
It was, in the past, open up to distant exchanges (Vix treasury) with Greeks, Scyths,
Etrusks and Celts.
One of the rebellions heart against the Romans, Burgundy became with Autun, one of
the former intellectual centers.
The region reached its artistic and cultural zenith under the aegis of Burgundys
dukes as Philippe le Bon, the Golden Fleece Knights Order's founder and Charles le
Téméraire. |
