...a family business
Right in front of the main station of Angers, close to the towncenter, the Hotel de France has been the BOUYER family's business for over a hundred years.
|
In 1893 Mr. &
Mrs. Pierre Auguste BOUYER settle down in the previous Hotel de France
(today Hôtel d'Orléans) right opposite the station.
At the time the rooms were lit by candlelight and water and wood for the chimneys had to be taken up to each room for the comfort of the clients.
In 1906 today's hotel was built in the Haussmanian style.
For its time it was a very modern hotel and in 1911 Mr. BOUYER received the price of "Bon Hôtelier" awarded by the prestigious
"Touring Club".

After WWI, the son Jean BOUYER took over the management and improved the hotel facilities providing better accomodation for its clients and better working conditions for its staff.
With Bernard BOUYER, educated at the École Hotelière of Thonon-les-bains, the evolution
continued. The rooms became equiped individually with televisions, telephones, toilets and
bathrooms.

A gourmet restaurant, the Plantagenêts opened as well as "Le Pub" and "La Fée Tout".
With the increased competition and customer demand the hotel also started providing halls for
receptions, conferences and exhibitions.

Today his sons Antoine and Vincent run the place.
Antoine is in charge of the restaurants. He had been trained by famous Chefs such as Robuchon, Dutournier and Les Frères Roux both in France and England.
Vincent, having worked at the "Manor House" group in Great Britain and the company "Chefs de France" in the U.S., took over the management of the brasserie "Le Bistrot" and both together they share the management, administration and
accommodation.

With its 55 air-conditioned
rooms, each decorated differently and equipped with a mini-bar, TV, telephone, WIFI internet
connection, hair dryer, etc., this 3 star hotel provides a comfortable setting for both the tourist or the business
